Replaced the entire ice making unit. It was a very simple project. The original ice maker is held in place by two screws at the front and some tabs in the back. Removing the screws allowed the unit to come free from the tabs and drop down. We simply released the wiring clip, removed the broken unit and reversed the process. The repair took about ten minutes and is something I have never done before. I am guessing we saved over $100 by ordering from AppliancePartsPros.com and doing the job...

Ordered new enclosure. Place ice maker into 'off' position. Remove ice tray assembly by pulling forward. Unscrew left hand side screw under old enclosure. Pulled broken part forward and up slightly. Unhooked wire harness from back of freezer. You can reach from underneath pulled out part. Or from top if you tilt rear of part down. Pull assembly out.

Upon receipt of part (in 2 days), removed right panel (snapped on). Removed ice tray. Removed one screw holding broken tray. Then removed plug from motor/solenoid.
Next, moved motor/solenoid from old cracked tray to new one. All holes aligned exactly.
Replaced shelf/motor in freezer, and reconnected cable from motor to freezer wall. Put one screw back in. Then replaced right-side snap-in panel. Finally, slid in ice-tray itself onto the new shelf. Tested okay.

Determined the helix lock was free wheeling on auger helix dispenser not allowing auger to dispense ice properly. Auger also replaced because it had some badly worn areas around the blade assembly. Using videos available for instructions on how to disassemble auger dispenser the job was fairly easy. While I had the assembly removed I also replaced the drive cup which appeared worn. All the parts I ordered were received in two days.

This was a very easy repair, the on-line video at AppliancePartsPros.com was helpful.
The Helix was spinning freely (meaning, the Auger Blade was not holding it in place on the Auger).
Pulling the assembly apart was a snap, and very logical (the video is perfect if you get lost).
The family is now enjoying both crushed and cubed ice - and the redesign of the Auger Blade seems to prevent clogging in the ice shoot.
