Refrigerator Gasket & Seal

The gaskets arrived the day after ordering. I went on Google to watch videos of how the gaskets for my model refrigerator were to be replaced. After viewing the videos I anticipated a more difficult time completing the replacement, when in fact is was very simple. I removed the old gaskets and placed the new ones in the dryer to soften and make more pliable for replacement. It went extremely smoothly even though I anticipated having issues. Read more

I agreed and received my part within 2 days. I watched the video that told me exactly how to complete repair. It was very simple. Ordered the gasket kit. The shipping time was quick. The installation was more difficult than anticipated. The inside of the door had to be removed there were about 30 hex head screws. the new gasket then had to be fitted to the interior of the door and then placed on the outer part of the door and the screws replaced. Since the fridge was an older model, it had screws behind the gaskets. First, I removed the freezer door, then I loosened the screws and removed the old gasket. I then placed the new gaskets, corner first, then worked my way around the door until all sides was done. I tightened the screws. For the lower door, I didn't remove the door but I removed all items from the door shelves. First I ordered a new ice door seal, spring, and crank, figuring the condensation in freezer and door was caused by ice door not sealing. Turns out the solenoid for the ice door was completely rusted and was the primary cause, if it had been replaced early, it would have saved the dispenser board. What then happened was the moisture in the freezer door damaged the control board rendering dispenser controls inoperative as well as the heater around the dispenser.
