Really easy project. Ordered the replacements and after arrival removed worn gaskets and replaced with new. Main thing is to make sure your replace in same direction as originals and make sure you secure gasket in groove. Read more

I checked the freezer and found the door gasket was damaged. When the parts arrived, I checked them for a good fit and the attachment method. Due to past experience of replacing door gaskets, I was expecting a lot of screws that would have to be removed and replaced. To my surprise, the gaskets pressed in place without tools and had a good and secure fit. These gaskets (seals) are friction held in a groove and just pull out by hand. The new ones simply can be pushed back into the groove by using your fingers to go around and work them in. Pull a corner of the old one out and push it back in to see how the fit. The gaskets need warming and softening with a hair dryer to straighten after arrival for correct shape, better fit, workability, and to regain their shape, but this is a simple job. Followed general instructions on APP video I found on YouTube for similar GE refrigerator. I soaked the gaskets in warm bath water first which may or may not have been required as I let the gaskets sit out flat in a warm house for a week first and they were about as straight as they would get. Installing the gasket in the groove was not very difficult assuming you have strong fingers. Ordered replacement seals for both freezer and refrigerator sides. Followed directions that I had found on YouTube. The installation in a nut shell is warm the seals in a bathtub with very hot water for at least 2-3hrs then place the seals. Then warm the seals with a hair dryer as needed. After getting the seals out of the hot bath the installation took all of 20-25 minutes for both seals. Read more
