After researching a number of sites for a diagnosis I tended to think the culprit was going to be the ice maker thermostat. Checking pricing and availability of the thermostat prices were very close at $40 BUT wait now you have to but the thermo mastic at another $35-$40. And after some continued research the factory ice maker in a $3000 msrp 4 door refrigerator was/is known to be defective long after warranty period expires. Since I could not find the correct thermistor from the schematic provided, I ordered the thermistor harness for the evaporator. I cut the harness and spliced it to the sheared thermistor wires on the roof of the freezer compartment. It now works fine with a little "farmer ingenuity" help. Samsung was absolutely no help at all, but the guy that I spoke with over the phone at APP sure was. This site is now my "go to" for appliance parts! Tip for others with this model. Tl;dr: Watch the repair video FIRST. This will take you less than 15m if you do watch the video. You need to remove a door panel, you can't directly replace the icemaker. Even without doing that, it took me less than 30 minutes. 4 screws, a panel removal, a couple of computer-style power plugs, and you'll have ice again no problem. Stupid easy. After searching for information, the best guess was a defrost problem, so I first fully defrosted and reset the ice maker (this is the recommendation of Samsung and others on the net). This did not fix the problem. Next best guess was water fill valve, but after removing ice maker from fridge, determined it had cubes in it but would not eject. I ordered a replacement ice maker and replaced the ice maker. it was really simple. one phillips head screw, a quick connect electrical connection, and a locking tab on the ice maker was all that it took to replace. Read more

It was a snap. All I had to do was unsnap one end of where the ice tray attached to the ice maker and fit the tray into the two sides and then resnap the end back onto the icemaker. Very easy. Read more

Replaced the entire ice making unit. It was a very simple project. The original ice maker is held in place by two screws at the front and some tabs in the back. Removing the screws allowed the unit to come free from the tabs and drop down. We simply released the wiring clip, removed the broken unit and reversed the process. Ordered new enclosure. Place ice maker into 'off' position. Remove ice tray assembly by pulling forward. Unscrew left hand side screw under old enclosure. Pulled broken part forward and up slightly. Unhooked wire harness from back of freezer. You can reach from underneath pulled out part. Or from top if you tilt rear of part down. Pull assembly out. Remove solenoid and motor. 4 screws each.
