I have a 12 year old Kenmore Elite washer. One day, suddenly, I heard a grinding noise and the washer abruptly stopped. I ordered the new hinge and the cap they said would be needed, took the door apart and installed new hinge. Only problem, wish they told me I needed 4 of the caps, for one hinge and each cap was 11.95 x 4...pretty spendy. Fortunately I was able to reuse 3 of my worn ones for now. Read more

The washer would try to start. The door would lock, but then would get stuck in the phase of start-up where the drum needs to roll around (I assume so it knows what's in there). It would sit and think about it for a couple minutes and then give the error codes. I shut it off (sometimes had to unplug it and plug it back in), and it would take about 10 minutes for the door to unlock. We looked online at AppliancePartsPros.com under the symptoms and found it was most likely caused by the shocks. Of course there was a repair video showing how to replace all four shocks step by step, and there was a link for purchasing the four shocks at the bottom of the video. Our repair didn't go quite as quickly as on the video because we are novices, but we were able to do the repair ourselves and, once again, saved ourselves a ton of money! This should be plastered all over the place and every owner of a front end washer should be advised or a recall should be issued about this. As I opened the top of my washer to fix a F35 error by replacing the water level switch, which worked out great and it fixed the issue, I noticed a rusting spot at the bottom of the washer just under where the motor is placed. First I removed the washer from the laundry room and but it in the garage for more room to work on it. I pulled the unit away from the wall and noticed black dust on the floor. Unplugged the unit, turned off the water. Removed back panel (about 10 screws with Torx heads) and noticed the belt was off, the drive pulley was loose and wobbling on the shaft, black dust all over the inside. Belt was worn along one side. Replaced all rubber and plastic hoses coming into and exiting the washer discharge pump. They where gummed up with mold and slime. WOW it stopped all odor from discharge into the utility sink. This model required that the whole front of the washing machine be removed which was very intimidating, but after watching the video from Appliance Parts Pros it was easy, I also replaced discharge pump and the bellows since I had it apart anyway and it was 5 years old. Ordered and replaced the bellows. The video was a great help; but as others have mentioned, later models have small differences. Check your model number. I'll second everything said in the review dated Nov 10, 2018; including the part about getting an assistant to hold the outer retention ring in place while you are stretching the spring. Read more

• Will not fill with water

After watching the YouTube video provided by Appliancepartspros and checking various forums I determined the dispenser motor had gone out. Turns out, it was a two part problem. The connectors to the motor, and the motor had corroded. Cleaned them both with vinegar. The old motor did a load before I started having problems with the CCU.
