Wall Oven Igniter

Replaced the gas regulator and the oven igniter. It was not a very difficult repair.. most of the parts were easy to get to. The biggest challenge was disconnecting the gas hose from the regulator. It had "pipe dope" (sealant) on the threads. I reconnected with yellow gas pipe tape. Read more

The oven would not heat up but the broiler and stove top burners all worked so I replaced the igniter. The part arrived quicker than I expected - one day with regular shipping - and the repair also went much quicker than expected. After many years of excellent service the burner I use most often on the top of my JenAir range rusted through. After trying to remove the burner, which was firmly rusted into place, I decided to replace the cooktop pan, both burners and igniters. It was an easy repair to swap out the new parts for the old, and the only tool necessary was a #2 phillips screw driver. My 18+ year old Jennair cooktop, PN CCG2520W was in need of a rebuild b/c of a welded venturi tube on the right front [RF] burner. In order to remove the glass top cover, you MUST remove the venturi tube. To do this you have to DRILL-OUT the venturi tube which requires a new venturi and orifice holder. Removed bottom flame cover in lower oven to find the ignitor was actually broken into pieces. We assume it exploded because the bottom side of the cover had a hole blown in it and had to be hammered flat. Before it totally stopped working we had experienced a number of instances where the GFI kicked out when the oven was preheating. Replaced the igniter, Simple but there are several points to remember. TURN THE POWER OFF 1) remove the oven door or you will have a hard time reaching the back of the oven. Mine just lifted off. 2) The igniter tip is fragile put a drop cloth over the oven floor in case you drop it even after it is in its holder. 3) The drop cloth will catch screws too if you drop them so they won't fall into the oven. 4) The cable from the oven is very short even after pulling it out from the hole at the back.... Replaced ingniter. Unlike some of the repair videos I saw, I could do everything by removing the lower draw, and in fact access from the back of the stove was not an option on my Amana. Pulling the stove out and fussing around turned a likely ten minute job in to a twenty minute. Unit work great, now I just need to keep tabs on the broiler igniter, which may be on the way out as well. Read more

Called a repairman and he told us we needed to change a bunch of parts and would cost over $400! Decided to do some research online and found suggestions to replace the spark igniter. Decided to give it a try. Took about 10min to replace and oven is now working perfectly, for a total of $30! Read more
