Previously, I removed the lower rear cardboard back of the unit and saw the crack in the defrost pan. It was probably damaged when unit was moved using appliance hand truck. I looked up the part number AP4319611 in the exploded view diagrams of the unit. The part was ordered and delivered in a few short days. Looked for obvious signs of mal-function, burned wires, etc. I found that the compressor controller(attached to the compressor) had an obvious burned-out spot. Took a chance that was the problem (it was); ordered all new OEM parts, including a new timer and run capacitor (a part that kicks in every time the compressor starts). I watched the video posted by Jerrod Sessler on yellow van handyman.com. Then I had to unstack the dryer from the washer, remove all covers, disconnect all hose connections, shock mounts and springs and remove the tub assembly. Then I disassembled the tub assembly and remove seal and both bearings from the rear half. At this point I cleaned everything. This is the second time of needing repair. I remove the ice bucket, open the crusher, remove the 5 blades. Straighten the blades, reinstall. I then order new blades, The next time it happens I will install the new blades. The reason for the malfunction, (my guess), two ice cubes partially melted stick together and the size and angel the enter crusher cause the problem. Dishwasher worked fine except the top rack would keep coming off the rails, could see the rollers needed replacement. Washer is 10 years old, and in that time the rollers had become brittle and broken. At first tried to use old screw and washer, but washer was impossible to remove from screw as I have hard water and the calcium deposits seemingly cemented it. Replaced motor and new solenoid and yoke assembly, motor ran fine but Ice maker did not make Ice, water was turned on and the wire off and on latch was is the down position (on). Disconnected the water line from the Ice maker tray, ice had formed in the line while I was waiting for my parts (about 5 days), I would suggest disconnecting the water line at the feed end were your shut off valve is located and allow water to drain out of line. First replaced defrost timer which tested OK - but reasonable price and easy to replace. When that did not fix the problem replaced the defrost thermostat and defrost heater. That fixed the problem. However all three parts tested OK ?? May have been a loose connection or intermittent problem with one of the parts. Final cost for all three parts was much cheaper than a service call!! Read more
