Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The whirlpool side by side refriderator door hinge cam was worn out door would not shut easily   Kevin W. • Holt , MI • February 06, 2017

I ordered the door hinge cam kit, both the hinge, lower and upper cam. I followed videos found on the web. I would recommend taking the refrigerator door off by removing the upper hinge bracket and lifting the door off the lower hinge. It was much easier to replace the hinge and cam with the door off. One video suggested using Di-electric grease to lubricate the cam surfaces. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Door clicking, door not closing easily   Mike K. • Broadview Heights , OH • January 27, 2020

Replaced both sets of door cams on my Kenmore Elite Refrigerator. The most important thing to know is that you DO NOT have to remove the doors from the refrigerator to replace BOTH sets of cams. You just have to remove the lower grill which is a snap fit (I also turned off the water and unplugged the unit). My fridge has an ice and water dispenser where the water and electrical lines go through the cams on the left side. Be sure to order the correct parts as the cam holes on the freezer side... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The oven door wouldn't close tightly   Roger D. • Wayzata , MN • May 09, 2014

I replaced the hinges, which involved removing the door by opening it all the way, inserting a small allen wrench into the locking pin hole on each of the two hinges, partially closing the door and pulling it toward me. I then laid the door stainless steel face up on a table, removed the 8 screws from the edge and pulled the bottom of the face up and toward me. The hinges lie loose in their compartments, so it's easy to pluck them out and drop the new ones in. To retrieve my allen wrenches... Read more
