This is a water inlet valve with a built-in thermistor that controls the flow of water into the washing machine while monitoring water temperature. The valve opens and closes electronically to fill the tub with the correct amount of hot and cold water based on the selected cycle. Replaced both primary and secondary water valves to make sure I fixed the problem. Both valves have to open when you function the water dispenser and when the ice maker tray needs refilling.
