I have a 25 year old Kenmore washer that works well and didn't want to get a new washer as they don't make them like they used to. I decided to repair my Amana LWA50AW top loader washer because it has served us well, it is made by Speed Queen and an equal replacement is expensive. These are very dependable washers. This cap is a small protective cover used in select appliances. It helps secure and seal its mating component, preventing leaks, debris intrusion, or loosening during normal operation.
Removed the back cover. (Glad I used my power tool to remove all the screws) I then removed the sheared off part of the bolt using drill and easy-out tool. It was a straightforward install of the new bolt. I added a little bit of blue Loctite even though the bolt already had some dry thread sealer. I torqued it down enough to hold everything snug. This is a plastic air dome that traps air and transmits water pressure changes to the pressure switch, which controls the water level inside the washer tub. It connects between the tub and the pressure switch hose. Replace this part if the washer overfills, underfills, or does not fill at all, as a cracked or clogged air dome prevents accurate water level sensing.
