Our 19 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating. After checking the thermal fuse, I found the ignitor electrically open. I bought an ignitor at a local store as there was a national holiday the next day and I did not want the dryer inoperative waiting several days for shipping. I removed the top of the washer, disconnected the existing inlet valve assembly, and replaced it with the part I bought from AppliancePartsPros.com. If it hadn't taken me 30 minutes to figure out how to remove the top of the washer (not the entire top, just the cover over the control panel area), this would have been a 5 minute repair. Read more

Walk into the kitchen on 21 Sep. Eight year old Frigidaire refrigerator appears to be short cycling, controls are nonfunctional. Unplug it for a few minutes, plug it back in, appears to return to normal function. Return to kitchen half hour 45 minutes later it's short cycling again. A quick google search lead me to the problem - the plastic door gasket had become loose and broken. Received the part very quickly and installed it that night after a little trial and error. What the videos don't tell you is that to properly 'seat' the gasket you need to angle it UP when you push it into the little gap. If you angle it up, it will catch and seat properly, if you just push it in normally, it won't catch on the right part and it'll just hang loose at the bottom of the door and... Read more

When I removed the cabinet, all of the springs appeared in tact, I had already replaced the counter balance spring so I knew that was not the issue. None of the suspension springs or brackets were broken but they did look worn/rusty so I replaced all of the brackets (2 in front and 1 large in back), all of the suspension spring retainers, and all of the suspension springs and it fixed the issue! I used Fixya as an initial source describing my problem. I got two responses which were very helpful. One that the "coils" were probably the problem. Two, that the problem could be the thermostat or a thermistor in the dryer. I verified that AC was coming from the timing control, that both the two terminal and three terminal coils,the igniter and shut off thermostat all had continuity. I noticed the rubber seal (bellow) was damaged near the bottom of the bellow. It looks like removing clothes from the machine had worn away and eventually ripped away some of the seal. This caused water to leak out the bottom of the door. I looked up the model number of my washer on the web and searched for the part number of the bellow. First I checked the circuit breakers and power to the outlet, then next wanted to check the lid switch, but it wasn't where I had found it on older models. I knew from the loud sound during the spin cycle that the bearings were going out, I ordered a gearcase part number W11455453 (AP6993918) which has the bearings, tub seal, and shaft altogether which makes the repair much easier to complete. I will say you should also order the spanner wrench it makes taking the spanner nut off and putting back on much easier also, part number TB123B (AP6832671).
