Replaces a cracked, broken, or worn ice dispenser lever on your refrigerator freezer door. Press this actuator with your glass to release ice.
A friend's ice dispenser was not working so I told them I'd see what I could find on the forum. Originally I thought the micro switch had gone out. When I received the part and went to replace it I found that the little plastic tab that engages the micro switch was actually broken off on the Ice Actuator. I returned the switch and got the correct part. It arrived in a couple of days. It took about 15 minutes to replace. Everything is working great now. The repair was pretty easy to do. I found... Freezer not cooling or staying cold? This temperature control thermostat cycles cooling on/off to maintain set temperature. Easy DIY fix restores cooling.
The freezer would cool down to 0 degrees after being plugged in but once it hit zero the freezer failed to keep it there, it would warm back to room temp. I ordered the cold control knob and it came very quickly! It did come with directions but failed to address what terminal you plug the black and yellow wires into. I checked online and ultimately called AppliancePartsPros and they forwarded me to a technician. He said it didn't matter so I plugged in the two wires and it has been a week and... Read more

Fix freezer icing and warm fridge temps by replacing a faulty defrost timer. Typical DIY repair takes 15-30 minutes with basic tools and a multimeter.
I took the bottom tray out of the freezer and found the coils iced up severely. I was reasonably sure the defrost timer was the problem and your tech said that was a good possibility. Ordered and replaced timer. (15 minutes) Problem fixed!!! Saved purchasing a new fridge at big bucks. We live over 40 miles from a service center so the cost of having a tech come out is astronomical. Thanks!!! Read more
Fix a water dispenser that stopped working or won't activate. This dispenser lever replaces broken actuator assemblies. Moderate DIY repair.
The water dispenser stopped working on my Sears Kenmore (Whirlpool) side-by-side refrigerator and after much research on the web I purchased the parts that commonly failed for this condition. I should have first taken the dispenser assembly apart but I didn't--it looked a little too intimidating to do twice. As it turns out, what actually broke was the plastic assembly that holds the water actuator switch in place so the dispenser lever could not strike it. I was able to secure it in place... Read more
