I doubt I needed all the parts I bought but I am limited on time. So I replaced the defrost thermostat, defrost timer, and the defrost heater. So far so good. It hasn't been 2 weeks yet, but I have noticed that the freezer doesn't seem to be constantly running as before. Time will tell. Read more

• Won't start

My fridge was often reaching 60-70 degrees but would work well when motor/fans were running; it just wasn't cooling regularly. I checked the coils, defrost, damper, and fans, and they all seemed to work, so that only left the cold control in terms of what I was willing to try to fix. I ordered the door stops (or door cams) for both the fridge and freezer and the hinge bearings. I figured I might as well do both if I'm going to do one. Very easy. Watched a YouTube video. Got a link to the site to order the parts. All you need is a screwdriver and ratchet. Done in 30 minutes. Read more

Replaced both primary and secondary water valves to make sure I fixed the problem. Both valves have to open when you function the water dispenser and when the ice maker tray needs refilling. YouTube video was a great help and let me know that I had to lengthen one hose. The video showed me the exact parts I needed to lengthen the hose. YouTube video also let me know that I had needed to transfer the internal springs in the hoses when I cut the old connections off. Never would have known... Read more

• Freezer not defrosting

I had had the same problem 4 or 5 years ago and spent close to $200 to repair it. I did have the slip from that repair with part #'s so I went ahead and ordered a defrost timer and thermostat. You-tube had plenty of videos on replacing those parts and even before they arrived I was able to add a switch and bypass the broken thermostat and start a cycle manually with the timer.
