This is a rubber hose that connects to the tub fill nozzle inside the washing machine, directing water into the wash tub during the fill cycle. It ensures water flows properly from the inlet valve to the tub. Replace this hose if you notice water leaking inside the cabinet, reduced water flow into the tub, or if the hose has become cracked or brittle.

Because the washer would stop mid cycle and would start again after some period of time, I presumed that there was something amiss in the drive train (i.e. motor, transmission, belt). Took the unit apart and discovered that two of the three brake pads were destroyed. Motor turned easily as did the transmission. Replaced the brake pads and reassembled.
