Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Catastrophic failure of the dryer cycling thermostat in a maytag neptune super stack   Richard M. • Cornish , NH • October 19, 2020

Through 15 years of vibration, the Cycling Thermostat evidently had degraded to the point where one electrical connection or more came loose and caused a short. There is also a possibility that the Bakelite section of the Dryer Cycling Thermostat body separated from the metal base, simultaneously exposing all four connections to a short. The thermostat literally exploded into chunks and dust. There was a heavy arcing and then, thankfully, the thermal fuse blew and shut down power to the short... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My son advised that my Amana LG3412W suddenly developed the "no heat" syndrome   William S. • Tulsa , OK • September 11, 2018

After verifying the no heat problem myself, I just googled "LG3412W no heat" with my smartphone and thumb. One of the first hits was the Appliance Parts Pros website with a list of 8 possible parts that might fix this problem, listed in descending order of likelihood of success. With 3 adults worth of dirty laundry piling up and straining our ability to drip dry, I had to agonize over: 1) buying a new dryer from whatever a local dealer had in stock, then clearing years of valuable junk in... Dryer Motor Kit
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WE17X10010

This dryer motor kit powers the drum and blower. Replacing a weak or failed motor restores proper tumbling and airflow so the dryer starts reliably and dries loads more evenly.

  • Drives the drum via the belt and turns the blower wheel for airflow
  • Helps resolve: dryer hums but won't start, drum won't turn, or stops mid-cycle
  • Can reduce loud buzzing/grinding noises from the motor area
  • Restores consistent operation when the motor overheats and trips its protector
What's included: 1 drive motor Install notes:
  • Disconnect power; turn off gas supply to gas dryers before servicing
  • Remove panels to access the drive system; release belt tension and remove the drum as needed
  • The blower wheel threads onto the motor shaft—support it carefully; many GE dryers use a reverse (left-hand) thread
  • Transfer wiring and any reusable hardware to the new motor; test before reassembly

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Motor was not working   Linn C. • Saint Augustine , FL • June 17, 2014

Door Strike Dark Slate
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WE01X34284

Color: Dark Slate

The Door Strike is an OEM part for GE dryers. Positioned on the dryer frame, it securely latches the door closed during cycles. Its magnets align perfectly with the door when shut to create an air-tight barrier, enhancing energy efficiency.

Causes of failure can be normal wear, misalignment stress, or accidental damage. Over time, strikes lose effectiveness at preventing air/moisture exchange.

Symptoms of a bad door strike include:

  • Excess warm air entering the dryer chamber
  • The door not fully closing or latching tight
  • Clothing not drying completely within expected cycles
  • Buildup of lint around the door seal area

Blower Wheel
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WE16M15

The Blower Wheel is an OEM replacement part for GE dryers. It has a role in the air circulation within the dryer, aiding in the even and efficient drying of clothes. Symptoms of a bad Blower Wheel include:

  • Unusual noises during operation
  • Extended drying times
  • The dryer overheating
  • Reduced air circulation

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
