I ordered the relevant parts that I found easily on the website. Turntable replacement is a breeze. Motor replacement was easy but required pulling the built in unit out far enough to get to the access plate from below. Looks like I will plan to replace the turntable more often (when the wheels start catching the turntable starts wobbling) which will likely allow the motor to last much longer. Read more

Wife let me know the microwave was making grinding noise while I was in garage fixing her car starter, never a dull moment. Further questioning she also said it wan't heating the food. Due to being an odd sized built in $$ unit I had to have repaired. I was getting quotes in the $4-500 range for just the magnetron. We followed the manufacturer's instructions about re-positioning the fan motor and installing the vent damper (easy). We constructed a duct system from the microwave to the outside of the house (challenging). We used 3.25" x 10" metal duct to start the system through the wall behind the microwave, where we added framing to reinforce a cut stud. I contacted Appliance Parts Pros, and told them what the problem was and what it was doing. They sent me an email with the parts number needed to complete the repair. This was a built in a cabinet unit and I required help removing it and reinstalling it. The repair was relative easy once I had the parts and it took approximately four hours,. I replaced the motor by removing 5 screws from the bottom of the microwave and 1 screws from the motor. Very easy to replace, I didn't even have to remove it from the wall (I unplugged it just in case). Read more

This damper was added to the outside vent duct line as an additional block against outside air intrusion. This is a 25 year old built-in over-the-range appliance. Only previous problem was 1 failed door switch (of 3 total), replaced 2 years ago. First checked all 3 door switches with continuity tester, all ok. Had advice to check thermostat switches, which were all supposedly NC (normally closed), used same tester.
