The Check Valve Flapper is an OEM replacement part for GE dishwashers. It is a small but crucial component located within the water inlet valve assembly. The check valve flapper regulates water flow into the dishwasher, allowing water to enter during the fill cycles but preventing backflow when the water is drained.
Causes of a bad check valve flapper can include wear and tear over time, mineral buildup that causes sticking, or damage to the flapper itself. This prevents the flapper from opening and closing as intended.
Symptoms of a bad check valve flapper include:
- Slow or incomplete filling of water
- Dripping or leaking water from the inlet area
- Error codes related to water issues
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore dishwasher models.

Continuously plugged spray arms from disintegrated rubber sump Bruce B. • Tega Cay , SC • December 27, 2014
Pulled dishwasher from the cabinet and flipped onto its side. Easy access to sump and drain flapper valve that I also replaced. Rubber sump coming apart into soft pills & chunks and plugging spray arms. Better now but it's rediculous that GE would make components that dissolve this way.
