This ice door motor drives the dispenser flap that opens for ice dispensing and closes to seal the chute. Replacing a weak or failed motor restores smooth door movement and helps prevent warm air and moisture from entering the freezer. What it does:
- Actuates the ice chute door during dispensing and returns it closed for a proper seal
- Helps reduce frost, condensation, and ice clumping around the dispenser
- Can address ice not dispensing due to the door not opening/closing
- May resolve clicking or grinding noises from the dispenser area
What's included: One ice door motor. Install notes:
- Unplug the refrigerator before servicing; wear cut-resistant gloves
- Remove dispenser trim/control panel to access the ice door assembly; handle wiring carefully
- Note linkage and wire orientation before removal to ensure proper reassembly
- After installation, test the dispenser to verify the door opens/closes and seals the chute
Also known as: dispenser door motor, ice chute door motor.
