Kenmore Thermal Fuse
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 675813

The Thermal Fuse is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It serves as a crucial safety component that prevents the appliance from overheating by cutting off electrical power if the temperature inside the dishwasher becomes too high. This helps protect both the dishwasher and your home from potential fire hazards.

Causes of a bad thermal fuse can include overheating due to blocked air vents, malfunctioning components that lead to excessive heat, or electrical surges that damage the fuse. Over time, regular wear and tear can also contribute to the fuse's failure.

Symptoms of a bad thermal fuse include:

  • The dishwasher not starting or running
  • The control panel not responding
  • The dishwasher stopping unexpectedly mid-cycle
  • No indicator lights or sounds when attempting to operate the dishwasher

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

This part fixes the following symptoms

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dishwasher just stopped working, no power   Michelle W. • Gillett , WI • April 05, 2014

My friend researched online what would make a dishwasher just stop working, no power. The person on the you tube video showed how to first start with the thermal fuse. Then searched online for the thermal fuse. You had the part for a small price. I felt it was worth trying to see if that may be the issue. IT WORKED!! I was without a dishwasher for over a year, was planning to by a brand new one but for $23.00 now have a working dishwasher!! YEAH! Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You After self clean cycle oven heated very slowly and never got to temp   Beth C. • Atkinson , NH • March 27, 2018

Online chat here said that the oven sensor should be replaced. I got the feeling that was a bit off, so I went with my gut and ordered the thermostat as well. Replaced the sensor and that didn't fix it. Replaced the thermostat and it worked like a charm! Disappointed that they were overconfident in their answer and it would have taken me more days to fix - but, the products came in quickly (basically, next day) and were correct. Online video for my particular oven was incorrect - but it's... Read more

Microwave won't start or is completely dead? This fuse protects against electrical overload. Requires disassembly to access. Often replace with switches.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The frigidaire microwave would blow fuses on a regular basis   Loren A. • Windsor , WI • November 28, 2020

After doing some research the problem appeared to be the door safety switches. I ordered 3 new ones to replace all the original ones. Some minor disassembly of the microwave front was required to reach the fuse and switches. To reach the switches the control panel wires needed to be unplugged and the panel removed. After doing that replacing the switches was pretty strait forward. As of this comment the microwave has worked for 5 days without blowing the fuse so far. This has probably fixed the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You GE profile in wall oven gave F 9 code and would shut off after 30 minutes   Matthew M. • Fairfield , CA • July 23, 2018

The F9 error code is supposed to indicate that the door lock mechanism has failed. My oven would give the F9 code and turn off during normal baking at 400 F after about 30-40 minutes. It turns out that GE must have programmed the error codes incorrectly in my model, because the real problem was that my control board cooling fan was no longer functional, and one of the two thermal switches was shutting off the unit when the control board area got too hot. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My maytag gas dryer would start and the the tumbler rotate but the igniter would not glow and flame not start   .gil P. • Enumclaw , WA • March 29, 2015

The 2 sensors that sit on top of the flame tube work together. The Thrmst F should check closed, as should the Cutoff-TML, in order for power to flow to the ignitor. If the Cutoff is open, it is usually because the Thrmst-F did not open soon enough. The Thermst-F will cycle, closed to open, and repeat, however the Cutoff-HTML is a one time switch. If it opens it will not return to closed, and subsequently the ignitor will not glow. Some professionals say that if one of these sensors fail, both... Read more

I traced the black wires from the temperature sensor and wiggled them as the washer was running. At one zip tie every time i moved the wires the washer would stop running and the error code would flash. Sure enough, like many others posted, the vibration from the machine had split the wire.
