• Light not working

Went to the Internet, entered the make and model number, read possible causes, viewed videos on fixes and determined it was probably the socket. Viewed the schematic to determine the correct part number. Ordered a new socket. Received it within three days and in less than 5 minutes replaced the light socket. Knowing the odds of 2 failures occurring at the same exact time was unusually high, I just searched your site for what other broken items might affect these two failures. After unplugging the dryer from the wall socket, I used a screwdriver ( Phillips ) to remove the light cover fixture. This gave me access to the bulb which had burned out. I first use my fingers to remove the bulb but the base came lose from the glass bulb. I then used a needle nose pliers to remove the metal base of the bulb from the light fixture. Was able to diagnose problem at AppliancePartsPros.com by entering the model #. This is apparently a common problem with this Refrigerator Replaced Light Socket Assembly, Lamp Reflector, Lamp Case and Lamp Cover. Also replaced the main circuit board (not sure if this was necessary). The wiring on the Light Socket Assembly was different than the original, so it was a bit confusing how to assemble it, and no screws were provided to attach it to the Lamp Reflector - figuring this out took most... Removed the plastic shield, then unscrewed old bulb. Screwed in new bulb. New bulb has a slightly different screw base. Looked in several stores that carry appliance bulbs and could not find any bulbs that matched the unusual screw base. Replacing the snap-in plastic shield was difficult. It might have been easier if I had taken the freezer drawer out. Read more

Had to pull double oven and range top out from wall which involved removing the upper kitchen cabinet. Took the sheet metal off the back and had the socket swapped out in a couple of minutes. My old oven works like a charm! Read more

The lightbulbs were a problem for me as I did not know if they were 12 V or 120 V. But the interactive parts diagram on the website was very helpful and allowed me to order the correct bulbs very rapidly(120V is correct). They were very easy to change out except for the fact that I needed to have my 12-year-old son do part of it since his hands are smaller than mine.(and it is always good for sons to work with dads even on small projects like this.) Called Appliance Parts - service agent was extremely helpful. Tried to find an assembled piece was unable to do so. Send me the individual parts which were very easy to assemble. Was able to replace entire light assembly, reconnect wire with new terminal end. Light works find just now. Would definitely call again if I needed assistance. Read more
