Had to remove all three food drawers and the back panel behind the drawers (4 screws). The water tank comes with the associated tubing which would typically require access to the back of the fridge to run the new lines. Instead I clipped the existing lines inside the fridge. Then I clipped the lines off the new tank so they would line up with the old lines. I then used a 5/16" OD compression coupling (Lowes or Home Depot) to connect the ends of the tubing together. Had some confusion of what part I needed, needed the one with the motor and thermostat. Fortunately, I've been fixing wiring for many years, I simply cut the new motor out of the harness, and used that nice glue-inside-heat-shrink tubing to seal the soldered 'Western Union' style splices. New light socket and lamps fit fine, worked fine, new motor is fine, problem resolved. FYI: Look closely at the wiring in you unit, there are two wire harnesses, one feeds the light, the other feeds the motor... Read more

Was able to diagnose problem at AppliancePartsPros.com by entering the model #. This is apparently a common problem with this Refrigerator Replaced Light Socket Assembly, Lamp Reflector, Lamp Case and Lamp Cover. Also replaced the main circuit board (not sure if this was necessary). The wiring on the Light Socket Assembly was different than the original, so it was a bit confusing how to assemble it, and no screws were provided to attach it to the Lamp Reflector - figuring this out took most... Replaced corroded light housings, where bulb connections to housing felt "scratchy" when plugging in--suspect corrosion. I was hoping that the new housings would simply plug in (wired connections would disconnect easily). However, I found that the originals were soldered and heat-shrunk in. I had to trace and cut the original connection, butt-connect in (can't solder in the air, above my head...), heat-shrink and then tape my connections. However, the lights are working much better... The replacement lamp fit perfectly. I had tried other replacement lamps from the hardware store but wasn't able to find one that would fit. The lamp socket on the microwave was slightly smaller than a standard bulb. Read more

It wasn't easy because this microwave over-the-stove light was difficult to find at a reasonable price. However, I did find one at AppliancePartsPros.com. Since the price was so reasonable, I bought 4 bulbs plus an interior light bulb and paid the same shipping price for all. Everything works great. Read more
