The ice auger and crusher blade crush and shave the ice that dispenses on a refrigerator. This part can be used to repair a refrigerator that is no longer dispensing ice. Sometimes when the ice dispenser malfunctions and makes a loud noise but doesn't dispense cubed or shaved ice, the problem is with the auger and crusher blade. Perform a visual inspection of the auger and crusher blade to ensure no external damage is done to the components.Disconnect the refrigerator from its power source before starting this repair. Open the freezer door to access the ice bucket and dispenser area. The bucket is held in place by fastening clips that can be pushed to remove the bucket. Lay the bucket flat on its back with the auger and blade facing upwards. Remove the old auger and crusher blade by removing the four hex screws. Remove the helix end-cap from the old auger system and replace it with the new one. Repeat these steps in reverse to install the new component. This Whirlpool ice auger and crusher is a genuine OEM product sourced directly from Whirlpool. The part listed is only available individually and is not included with any other parts or original appliances. This part is compatible with Whirlpool, Amana, Kenmore, and Maytag appliances.
