The fan has a very thin wire in it's coil, and when that wire breaks, you need a new fan. In a previous repair, i noticed that an ice build-up had dislodged the wiring on my fan and severed the coil winding. I was able to undo the winding a couple of turns and get it working again. I replaced the bar and rack support. It was fairly easy. I measured the shelf and cut the bar to size. Then I inserted the bar into the shelf support and the inserted the bar and supports into the slots on the left and right. Elderly neighbor charged $100 for factory tech to inform her that the part wasn't available anymore, so I ordered 2 from Appliance Parts Pros.com (one for a spare) and when they arrived a few days later, I installed then in about 20-25 minutes. I determined that the motor that drives the damper valve that allows cold air into the refer was noisy. I ordered the replacement part from AppliancePartsPro.com. It arrived within 3 days and I changed the units out, which took about 10 minutes total. All is quiet with the refer now. Read more

Easy to replace with the shield and paddle assembly. Steps are: 1. use a flat head screwdriver to push the tabs at the base of the control panel. remove the wire connectors by gently prying them straight off. 2. remove the 4 phillips screws holding in the old assembly. 3. Install the new assembly by carefully putting the paddle behind the water pipe that sticks out. Toughest part of this repair is figuring out how to get things apart. Amana doesn't provide you a repair manual showing how to disengage the various plastic covers. Initially disassembled the bottom freezer compartment so I could get to the evaporator coils; they were completely frozen in block of ice, restricting air flow to the fridge above. Replaced both The electrical board I found under the fridge was very easy to replace. The fan motor took a minute to bed puns and the biggest challenge was taking off/on the back panel to get to it. (By the way it was located in the freezer section. take drawers out to get to it. Read more

I ordered a new solenoid valve set and watched the online video of the replacement process. So after emptying my freezer and fridge, removing the doors and freezer drawer, so I could mover the fridge out of its cove, I discovered after taking the panels off the rear, that my fridge is different than that shown in the video. The right door seal and the freezer door seal are easily removed and replaced. They just pull out of the slot. These 2 new gaskets push in easily. The left door has the French Door Mullion, that blocks the removal of the door gasket. There are two screws in the middle that holds it on, and there is a spring at the bottom of the mullion that keeps the mullion in place. The spring can easily be removed, or left in place.
