The Filter Screen is an OEM component specifically designed for Whirlpool dishwashers. Located inside the sump area, the durable mesh screen captures small food particles and debris before wash water is recirculated through cycles.
Symptoms of a bad filter screen can include clogging obscuring openings over time, degrading mesh no longer inhibiting passage, or dislodging from mounting points allowing bypass.
Causes involve the normal accumulation of soils requiring periodic cleaning. Mineral buildup may eventually cement sections together reducing effectiveness.

I simply reached my hand into the back housing, removed the two old (greasy) filters and slipped the two new filters in their place. Very easy.
