Kitchenaid Handle

• Door won't close

I found the door switch was not making contact when the door closed. I adjusted it, but then it would not open so the dishwasher would run when the door wasn't closed. The contacts were too long in the switch so they would bend and stay together when the door opened. The original switch was very poorly made for a very expensive Maytag dishwasher. Our 7 y/o dishwasher wouldn't close and therefore we couldn't get it to run. I called several service places who charged $75-$90 diagnostic plus parts & labor, and they were not able to get here for at least a week. I knew it was going to run at least $200. Separated oven door by removing screws. Inserted handle and secured with clips, and reassembledo door with screws provided. In served broiler handle and snappedal into place. Read more

As simple as it was to fix was amazing. It may not seem like much until you do not have a door handle. It sure did making using the dryer door very easy. Read more

• Door latch failure

Had to remove the screws that hold the dish washer to the counter top by knocking them out of the counter top. After seeing how the door handle worked I will not have to do again as all you have to do to open is stick a long screw driver up inside and push the chip and it opens. Ordered handle installed it now everything works fine. $29.00 for little plastic handle seems quiet rediculous but Kitchenaid and parts direct where $39.00 so I guess I got a bargain. Door latch was a snap (literally). Package included Instructions and parts for 3 different latch types and an easy identification method for each type. Just identify the correct latch type for your dryer and "Snap" it in to the cutout on the inside of the dryer door . The Door handle requires you unscrew the small sheet metal screws (three on my dryer) on the top edge of the dryer door. It has been loose and unable to tighten for several years. I ordered a new handle and the bolts for the freezer door. difficult to remove old set screws on handle. Came to find out that then design was faulty since new as with the new handle the set screws were larger and easier to tighten and hold secure. Happy for me with bad for Kitchenaid. Read more

4 Torx screws on the panel at top seen when door open. This is an important repair, though it would have been easier to leave as it was. The control or selection panel is right on the front and is stressed each time you open it. If you feel the front panel is flexing more than it should, check this piece for broken tabs and replace if gone. Read more

Our Kitchen Aid mixer was shipped without a handle on the arm that raises and lowers the bowl. Apparently it was a cost savings measure on some models. Kitchen Aid support was no help. I searched Appliance Parts Pro, found the part, ordered it and was able to install with only a rubber mallet. Price and shipping was fair. Read more

The hardest part was getting the inside of the door loose enough to get at the screws that held the handle on. I could not get the inside cover off but could I got 3 sides of it loose so I could get at the screws to replace the handle. Read more
