This was for a bottom freezer model, which required removing the freezer door to be able to access the icemaker. After using the crushed ice feature on my KitchenAid French Door refrigerator, the ice maker wouldn't stop dispensing ice, crushed or cubed. I thought it had to do with the paddle switch being stuck or something else in the door, but all door components seemed to be working as intended. Ordered new gasket seals and had someone install them, Installed one prior myself and it was very difficult to heat and stretch and wrap doors. Ended up gouging my cabinet when stretching the seal . Leave for professionals and even they struggled. Tight now and working great. Read more

Replaced both primary and secondary water valves to make sure I fixed the problem. Both valves have to open when you function the water dispenser and when the ice maker tray needs refilling. YouTube video was a great help and let me know that I had to lengthen one hose. The video showed me the exact parts I needed to lengthen the hose. YouTube video also let me know that I had needed to transfer the internal springs in the hoses when I cut the old connections off. Never would have known... Read more

Replaced Defrost timer, Heater element and Bimetal-Def. Since the Refrigerator was older and the parts are not that costly I just replaced them all since I was in there. Read more

After watching a few videos on this site and on You Tube it seemed like the most likely culprits were the starter and the capacitor. I found them easily behind the back panel near the compressor and easily unplugged them. I found the part numbers on this site and ordered them. After a 5 minute installation the compressor came back to life, and my 10 year old refrigerator has a new lease on life. Read more

The Compressor Start Device Kit fixed it. Very easy to do. Only hang up was a part number substitution that was mildly confusing, but it checked out just fine. We were afraid the compressor was bad, but were willing to try this first. Read more

The storage device for water had a cracked fitting so when either the water or ice solenoid was activated the water ran into the compartment. I replaced the storage device (reservoir) once I figured out how to remove the upper cover in the top of the refrigerator. • Freezer not defrosting

I had had the same problem 4 or 5 years ago and spent close to $200 to repair it. I did have the slip from that repair with part #'s so I went ahead and ordered a defrost timer and thermostat. You-tube had plenty of videos on replacing those parts and even before they arrived I was able to add a switch and bypass the broken thermostat and start a cycle manually with the timer.
