The Filter Screen is an OEM component specifically designed for Whirlpool dishwashers. Located inside the sump area, the durable mesh screen captures small food particles and debris before wash water is recirculated through cycles.

Symptoms of a bad filter screen can include clogging obscuring openings over time, degrading mesh no longer inhibiting passage, or dislodging from mounting points allowing bypass.

Causes involve the normal accumulation of soils requiring periodic cleaning. Mineral buildup may eventually cement sections together reducing effectiveness. 

Symptoms of a bad filter screen include:

• Dirty or soiled wash water unable to fully circulate  
• Filth dispersing throughout the wash cabinet interior
• Reduced cleaning and unsatisfactory dish results

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with KitchenAid, Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, and some Kenmore dishwasher models. Replace to maintain built-in wastewater filtration protecting major components.
