I took the bottom access cover off, and checked underneath the unit to isolate where it was leaking from. Cleaned the cover, and the spot where the leak happened was marked for me. The front, far left hand side, behind the door. Ran a quick rinse cycle with a pan under the spot to verify it was there. It was. Then I did an internet search and found your website. My discharge would not empty after a wash cycle and I always had gross gray water left in the bottom approx 3" deep? After doing the obvious things of checking the simp for garbage, and checking that the discharge hose wasn't blocked, I removed my discharge pump ( not too hard to do) and tested. My pump which did run and turn the impeller. However, the pump evidently had weakened with time and weakened and could no longer pump the waste water up hill to the "T" connection under the sink. While this is a Whirlpool dishwasher, I have the Kenmore Elite version of it. I believe them to be identical for parts. A little background: The first symptom I had of problems was plastic bits from the ball bearing retainer strips in the slides falling out. Then ball bearings falling out. A common problem with this dishwasher. When disassembling the upper basket, some of the gray plastic pieces were very brittle and easily snapped off. I didn't know what was wrong at first. All I knew was that it was not cleaning well at all (especially top rack) and leaving food particles on everything. I was washing on power scrub with high heat and still poor cleaning. I suspected a clog so I pulled the dishwasher and removed the plumbing to check it out. I discovered that the manifold was not connecting with the water supply,so the dishes in the upper tray were not being washed. This was caused because the rear hanger on the manifold had broken and it did not lineup properly into the water supply connection in the back of the dishwasher. I removed the manifold and found that it had two part numbers stamped on it. I searched on both part numbers and received a hit on the second part number. Chopper screen was completely blocked. Chopper blades separated from the shaft. Retainer ring came off of the shaft but was able to re install the chopper assembly. Worked fine after cleaning the screen and reassembly the lower spray arm. Lower spray arm hub tab broke when removing so purchased a new one with a new bearing. We initially noticed the dishwasher running loud and failing to completely clean dishes. Research suggested issues like this were normally caused by either the main circulation motor or the drain motor.
