The fan blade had vibrated down the shaft of motor and was hitting the fan supports. I replaced motor and new fan blade. The motor was still operating but since I had everything opened up I changed out the motor anyway. Freezer working fine now. The only unforeseen problem is there was a black wire that had to be transferred to the three prong wiring harness. Read more

The refrigerator was given to me and hasn't defrosted since it was new. I found the defrost timer had a burnt spot on the circuit board. After installing a new timer, the refrigerator would trip the circuit breaker in my house when it entered defrost mode. I found that the pink wire running from the control board all the way to the thermostat was shorted somewhere between the two parts, inside the refrigerator. I ran a new "pink" wire and all is good. Replaced both primary and secondary water valves to make sure I fixed the problem. Both valves have to open when you function the water dispenser and when the ice maker tray needs refilling. YouTube video was a great help and let me know that I had to lengthen one hose. The video showed me the exact parts I needed to lengthen the hose. The 20 year old unit still serves us well, looks good and has been kept in good repair. The condenser fan had stopped so I removed, cleaned and oiled that motor. Removed & replaced baffle. Make sure you have a 1/4" nut driver. You can't see the nut that is at a 90 degree angle from the front of the refrigerator. There is a second nut hidden behind the air filter at the back of the compartment as well. Once you remove these two, the plastic housing comes off & the assembly (which is mostly made of Styrofoam) is easily replaced. Read more
