It's bit of a chore in that on my Whirlpool Refrig you need to remove the grill on bottom front and the Utility Panel on bottom rear. Then unscrew the original filter housing and pull it out through the back of utility opening. Remove the two water hoses and put them into new filter house. Reverse the disassembly process to reinstall new filter housing. I'm old and slow so the process took me about 45 minutes. (Note: Unplug electric and turn off water inlet before starting.) Read more

1. Purchased a new Facade. The removal of the old one was relatively easy except that the two screws that hold it in place (behind the spill tray) were rusted (they should have used stainless steel ones) one came out with a vise grip but on the other I had to buy an "Easy Out" tool from Home Depot, once out the unit drops down. Temporary fix was to glue it. The final fix was a new pan which is sold as a complete unit. Old one out, new one in. The hardest part was determining what the part was called. I was looking for a "drawer" as the crispers are called, but after some searching I found a parts diagram that called it a "utility pan". Problem solved, part ordered and installed. I purchased a freezer gasket + key// from appliancepartspros.com //easy to order. I did not need to lock up my freezer but thought it might help the gasket seat (good thought). Removed & replaced baffle. Make sure you have a 1/4" nut driver. You can't see the nut that is at a 90 degree angle from the front of the refrigerator. There is a second nut hidden behind the air filter at the back of the compartment as well. Once you remove these two, the plastic housing comes off & the assembly (which is mostly made of Styrofoam) is easily replaced. Read more
