2 of 4 burners lost variable heat finction James R. • Centreville , VA • August 04, 2015
Trial and error only cooktop unit. Everything mounted into the counter and needed to pull unit out. I figured it was a control switch or the burner itself. Based on costs, I took the less expensive route and replaced the 2 known malfunctioning switches. All on-line videos said it was a 2-3 hour process to replace. I finished mine in less than 30 minutes. Turned breaker back on and it works like a charm. 30 years old and still going strong.

This wiring harness routes power and control signals between key components inside your range or wall oven. Replace a damaged harness to restore safe, reliable operation and prevent intermittent heat, shorts, or non-working burners and oven functions.
- Distributes electrical power and signals between controls, switches, heating elements/igniters, and safety components
- Maintains correct connector orientation and wire routing for dependable operation
- Typical symptoms: no heat in oven or on surface burners, intermittent operation, breaker tripping, or visible burnt/melted wiring
- Restores stable connections to reduce arcing and overheating
What's included: One wiring harness assembly. Install notes:
- Disconnect power at the circuit breaker; for gas ranges, also shut off the gas supply
- Label or photograph all connections and transfer one wire at a time to avoid miswiring
- Route the harness exactly as original; keep away from sharp edges and hot surfaces; secure with existing clips/ties
- If connectors don't match or any terminals are heat-damaged, stop and inspect mating components.

This plunger switch is the push-style electrical switch that completes a circuit when an actuator is depressed, restoring reliable on/off signaling. Use it to replace a worn or broken plunger switch that causes intermittent or non-responsive operation. What it does:
- Closes an electrical circuit when the plunger is pushed, sending a signal to the appliance control.
- Commonly used where a door, lever or dispenser actuator must register a position or user input.
- Can correct symptoms like intermittent operation, a dispenser or mechanism that won't activate, or a stuck/unresponsive actuator.
- Acts as a direct mechanical-to-electrical interface—no electronics required.
What's included: One plunger switch. Install notes:
- Disconnect power (unplug or turn off breaker) before servicing to avoid shock.
- Remove the access panel or housing to reach the switch; note actuator orientation before removal.
- Disconnect terminals or harness, then swap the old switch for the new one; reconnect terminals securely.
- Test the plunger action and appliance function before reinstalling panels.

Light was stuck on because switch was bad Brian F. • Clinton , NY • October 10, 2015
I pulled the switch out of the oven console and wiggled it until it started working. That only worked for a few days. I ordered the new switch from AppliancePartsPros on Monday. In the mean time, I pulled the switch off and held the wiring harness in place with duct tape. This turned off the light. Two days later, I plugged in the replacement switch, pushed it into the console and the rest is history! Thank you AppliancePartsPros!
