The Oven Temperature Sensor is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens. It measures the oven's internal temperature and sends this information to the control board to maintain the desired cooking temperature.
Causes of a bad temperature sensor can include exposure to high temperatures over long periods, electrical issues such as short circuits, or physical damage due to impact or mishandling.
Symptoms of a bad temperature sensor include:
- Inaccurate temperature readings
- Oven not heating to the set temperature
- Oven overheating
- Error codes displayed on the oven control panel

Online videos made this seem an easy fix. I unplugged the oven and removed the rear panel, then found where the temp sensor entered the oven. I unplugged the sensor's electric connector. Unlike the videos, this sensor screwed in from the inside of the oven, so I had to remove the 2 screws inside the oven which hold the sensor in place.
