Fix a dryer that won't start, stops mid-cycle, or runs continuously. This 2-cycle timer controls cycle selection and automatic shutoff. DIY-friendly repair.
My dryer would only start (and keep running) after a lot of fiddling with the timer to find a position that "worked." The machine wouldn't turn on when the timer was set in the dry-sensor region, and eventually, it stayed running only when we pressed the timer button. As soon as the pressure was off, the dryer stopped. Clearly that wasn't sustainable. I'd been putting off the repair because our dryer vent situation is tricky; once disconnected it's a real bear to reconnect. Watching the... Read more

Dryer won't heat or stops heating? This high limit thermostat monitors heater housing temperature and cuts power if it overheats. Easy DIY fix.
Washing machine should have been an easy fix that I had done before but ran into problems with the upper bearing and the bearing diameter on the shaft (a no go situation). By the time I was able to get the bearing seated I had damaged the new bearing. Much to my surprise Cierra in customer service sent me out a new bearing kit. I was then able to get the washer up and running with the new bearing kit and motor stator replacement. The dryer was a matter of replacing all of the electrical... Read more
Dryer won't start or runs with door open? The door switch is often the culprit. This safety switch ensures operation only when closed. DIY-friendly, takes 15-30 minutes with basic tools.

This complete valve system controls gas flow to your dryer's heating element, regulating flame size and heat output. It opens and closes automatically based on temperature settings and safety requirements. Replace if your dryer won't heat, overheats, or you smell gas during operation.
Unfortunately my first repair attempt (replacing the Gas Valve Coils) failed so I decided to replace the entire Burner assembly. From a cost/time point of view the Burner assembly is a better value than just buying the Gas Valve seeing as you don't have to disassemble/reassemble most of the existing Burner (to get to the Gas Valve) *and* you get a new Igniter!! The most annoying thing about the repair is accessing the screw that clamps the gas pipe to loosen it :-(... Read more

The lid hinge bearing is used for the lid hinges on washers and dryers. When functioning properly, it allows the lid to open and close properly. If this is a problem with the bearing, it could make the lid difficult to move. In some cases, when the lid will not close, it means that the machine will not function correctly. Damaged lid hinge bearings should be replaced as soon as possible. The lid hinge bearings see a lot of work since they are in use whenever the lid of the washer or dryer opens and closes. They could become cracked and broken over time. Replacing the bearings is a relatively simple repair that owners can make on their own. This lid hinge bearing is for use with many models of washers and dryers from Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Roper, Estate, Inglis, Maytag, Admiral, Amana, Crosley, and Magic Chef. This is a genuine OEM replacement part that has been sourced from the manufacturer. The piece is sold individually, so if owners need to replace more than one hinge, they will need to buy multiples.

Dryer not heating or shuts off after a few minutes? A faulty thermostat often causes temperature regulation failure. Easy DIY fix with a multimeter test.
I checked the continuity on the thermal fuse (which was blown) and knew that it needed to be replaced. This made me question why it blew (i.e. what caused it to fail). I checked continuity on the thermostat (high limit) as well as the thermostat for the element. Both passed a continuity test, so I removed the high limit thermostat to inspect it and could hear it rattling inside. This leads me to believe the spring inside had failed, so I replaced this thermostat as well. Put it back... Read more
This is a metal hinge support plate that reinforces the door hinge area on a dryer, helping to secure the hinge to the front panel or door. It distributes the stress of repeated door openings across a wider area to prevent damage. Replace this plate if the dryer door sags, feels loose at the hinge, or if the mounting area around the hinge shows signs of cracking or wear.

If your dryer won't heat or flame won't stay lit, a corroded burner tube may be the cause. This assembly includes an adjustable air shutter for proper combustion.
I removed the kick panel/door and confirmed there was no flame. Inspection with a flashlight revealed the igniter was damage - partly broken away. Using a 1/4" socket set I removed the burner assembly. Inspection showed the burner was rusted and the flame deflector had fallen off. I ordered both the "Dryer Igniter and Bracket" and a burner. They arrived in about three days. I had to attach the igniter to the bracket (one screw) and then the bracket to the burner (one screw). The only... Read more
