My frig is a year and a half old, Frigidaire with french doors and freezer drawer. It has an upper ice maker for the door in the frig and a bottom ice maker in the freezer drawer. After noticing the flood, I shut off the water supply to the frig and cleaned up the mess. I pulled the dryer away from the wall and unplugged it. Then I used a 5/16 nut driver and removed the 2 screws in the bottom front panel and pulled it off. Next I removed the 2 5/16 screws holding the front door panel and pulled it down far enough to disconnect the wires for the light and the wires on the door switch. I wanted to avoid pulling the drum. Luckily, my blower was easily accessed by pulling the front bottom panel. A couple of sheet metal screws were all I needed to remove the fan housing cover. I knew the fan was on reverse threads, i.e. righty-untighty. As it spins it tightens so no need for a retaining nut. I took off a screw holding on the exhaust tube and wiggled it out. Using appliancepartspros.com site took washer apart to diagnose bad clutch. The clutch was bad but once inside I noticed grease everywhere and after a quick online chat with rep. determined gear case was leaking and needed replacement. Replaced clutch & gear case. Followed video tutorial and took a little more than 30 minutes start to finish for me - I have no experience. The heating element had a break in the heater coils, so I replaced it with a new one from Appliance Parts Pros. I also replaced the thermal fusible link and thermostat switch because they were so cheap it just made sense to go ahead and do it while I was in there. I also cleaned every nook & cranny in the dryer, then cleaned out the vent piping- which was about 100% clogged.
