Second repair after 10 years of service - igniter had cracked and spill overs were causing the others to misfire. This was a two-step process. I took apart the cooktop to see what parts were neded. Screws were all rusted, I had to drill ome out. The burner gaskets broke during the process and needed replacement. One of the burners had deformed due to excess heat. Shut power off to unit. Took cook top out and removed metal cover to remove electrical board. Replaced with new one. Was just 5-6 connections that couldn’t be mixed up. Fairly easy fix. Works like new. Read more

The parts are under the stovetop and the knobs are attached to them. We bought the correct ones from AppliancePartsPros, these were the correct ones. Seems we have an oddball stovetop. It's a GE drop in stove. The parts were easy to change. It was a simple matter of putting the wires on the new switch in the same place there were on the switch. The igniter was sparking, but the spark did not appear as bright as the other burners. Swapped the burner and lid since that is where contact is made. Did not help. Came to the conclusion it was a faulty igniter. I ordered parts, replaced the igniter and now the range burner works fine. Read more

Ordered an igniter switch for $21.95. (the left front handle was turned the wrong although clearly marked: Off, Lite, X-high, high, med, low, simmer. Guess some folks cannot read and deduce.)
