Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The handle was bent so the latch kept locking the oven door regardless of handle position   Matthew H. • Kirkland , WA • January 08, 2016

I replaced the latch and handle assembly. It's easy when you see how it goes together. Unscrew the two screws under the front edge of the stovetop, have a helper lift the stovetop up, unscrew the six screws holding the metal plate down and remove the plate, unplug the wires connected to the latch switch, and unscrew the two front screws holding the latch assembly in place. Replace the latch assembly and put it back together in reverse. Read more

Ge Cooling Fan Assembly (Control)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB26T10018

This control cooling fan assembly circulates air through the oven's control compartment to remove heat. By keeping the console and electronics cool during and after cooking, it helps prevent overheating and protects sensitive components.

  • Moves air across the control area to dissipate heat from the board, wiring, and trim
  • Runs during/after bake or broil to maintain safe cabinet temperatures
  • Typical failure signs: fan doesn't run, loud vibration/squeal, control area feels very hot, or heat-related shutdowns
  • Purpose-built for the control compartment; distinct from the convection fan inside the oven cavity
What's included: 1 control cooling fan assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker and allow the appliance to cool; wear cut-resistant gloves
  • Access is typically from the rear or top; remove panels/guards per your model's service information
  • Transfer any required brackets or ducts; secure so the wheel spins freely with no rubbing
  • Reconnect wiring as originally routed, keeping harnesses clear of the blade; test operation before reassembly

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You GE profile in wall oven gave F 9 code and would shut off after 30 minutes   Matthew M. • Fairfield , CA • July 23, 2018

The F9 error code is supposed to indicate that the door lock mechanism has failed. My oven would give the F9 code and turn off during normal baking at 400 F after about 30-40 minutes. It turns out that GE must have programmed the error codes incorrectly in my model, because the real problem was that my control board cooling fan was no longer functional, and one of the two thermal switches was shutting off the unit when the control board area got too hot. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You 1 burner was not igniting the sparker on a low end 20 year old GE stove.   Benjamin F. • Villa Park , IL • January 09, 2022

Rather than replacing the whole ignition switch harness, I cut out the broken switch and replaced it with Burner Ignition Switch WB24K10017 / AP2632529. Wire stripper, small wire nuts, and electrical tape were also used. At first, the new switch was constantly on when the knob was in the off position. The gas valve shaft has a "U" shape. When the U is right side up, the gas is off and so should the igniter. The gas valve shaft position couldn't be changed, so instead, I re-mounted the... Read more

I first called a GE service tech in to diagnose the problem. He said very quickly that the oven circuit board had a fault in it. He said it would cost $ 563. to replace. I asked him if he thought I was a fool or an idiot? Of course he didn't get the job. Before the Tech came I looked up this problem on Appliance Parts Pros.Com and found the same problem. The fix was a new oven circuit board at $163. including S&H. I ordered, after the tech left, the part and received it in 2 days. When my wife... Read more

Ge Nut
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB02T10017

This is a genuine OEM replacement nut that is used on convection oven fans. This nut holds the fan onto the spindle. If the nut becomes lost during repairs to the fan, it will need to be replaced before the fan will work. This nut locks the fan to the spindle to turn and move the air around inside the oven. The fan helps the food to cook more evenly and reduces areas in the oven that are not cool enough or hot enough. If the fan is not working, the convection oven will not cook correctly.Convection ovens are different from regular ovens, and the fan is part of the reason. Convection ovens use the fan and an exhaust system to move the heat around inside the oven to cook food more evenly and faster. Many convection ovens have a setting that allows the oven to be used as a regular oven. If the nut is missing and the fan is inoperable, the oven can be used for regular cooking if it has this feature. Otherwise, the convection oven should not be used until the nut is replaced. This nut is a silver metal replacement part that is sold individually. It is designed for use in convection ovens made by GE and Kenmore.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Convection fan screaming like the undead are coming   Diego G. • Eden Prairie , MN • February 04, 2017
