I replaced the latch and handle assembly. It's easy when you see how it goes together. Unscrew the two screws under the front edge of the stovetop, have a helper lift the stovetop up, unscrew the six screws holding the metal plate down and remove the plate, unplug the wires connected to the latch switch, and unscrew the two front screws holding the latch assembly in place. Replace the latch assembly and put it back together in reverse. Read more

Move stove to unplug, remove rear center panel, indentify the two spade connectors that feed the heating element and remove (unplug) them. Remove two screws that hold the element to the inside rear wall of the stove and remove element. Install new element, plug in the previously removed spade connectors, re-install rear center panel, plug range (power) in, move stove back into place and enjoy. Read more

The F9 error code is supposed to indicate that the door lock mechanism has failed. My oven would give the F9 code and turn off during normal baking at 400 F after about 30-40 minutes. Removed bottom screws on door bracket. cleaned frame glass sets in. replaced foil reflector at top of glass installed glass and frame and was done. Read more

Rather than replacing the whole ignition switch harness, I cut out the broken switch and replaced it with Burner Ignition Switch WB24K10017 / AP2632529. Wire stripper, small wire nuts, and electrical tape were also used. At first, the new switch was constantly on when the knob was in the off position. The gas valve shaft has a "U" shape. I first called a GE service tech in to diagnose the problem. He said very quickly that the oven circuit board had a fault in it. He said it would cost $ 563. to replace. I took the cover off and the fan had separated from the bushing. Ordered a new fan and nut and it took all of 5 minutes to replace. Probably saved $159.99 service call repair and that is with a coupon. Any one can do this repair, just make sure the oven is cold as you will come in contact with metal parts. Read more
