The previous tenant in my daughter's new apartment apparently had a grease fire of sorts in the GE XL44 gas oven. This left the insulating double glass panes so fouled up that one could not see into the oven. I removed the oven door (just lifts off the hinges) and proceeded to disassemble the door so as to get to the glass panes. I ordered the three parts listed and now my oven is beautiful, functional and like new again. I first had to figure out that the original parts are no longer available and had to perform an oven upgrade. Removed 2 outer screws that held on handle and 4 inner screws which held on handle to outer panel. Installed new handle with 4 screws and installed outer 2 screws with spacers which were in door. Read more

I ordered both hinges (if the nylon roller was bad on the left, it was probably going to go bad on the right side as well). The web site was easy to navigate, order process simple. Hinges arrived quickly. Slide the oven door up and off. unscrew the three screws for the hinge. You need to then pull up with some force (there is a big spring in there), and twist the hinge to get the last bit out. Replaced the large burner control switches for the ones giving trouble. Since the other two switches had seen as much use as the faulty ones, replaced them too. After putting in new switches, found that one large burner had burned out so replaced it also. Range now cooks as good as new Read more

I visited Appliance Pros website and indicated the problem we were having etc. Found the suspected part (heating element), went on YouTube and found out how to remove the part from the oven and test it with a multi-meter. Keep in mind I have never used a multi-meter before or made repairs to an oven before. Initially, I took it off, sanded it and painted with appliance touch-up. Still didn't look good so I ordered a replacement part and installed. Read more

I had to take the control board off the bottom of the cooktop and replace the fan switch. The post that fits into the hand switch had broken off. The new switch cost about $35, it was an exact replacement and the whole repair took less than an hour. My wife is very happy because now she can again use the downdraft fan on the cooktop. • Element will not heat

This repair was on a GE glass Cooktop range. This range has two indicator lights, a Burner On light, and a Hot Cooktop Light. The problem I was having was, the Hot Cooktop stayed on all the time (24x7), even when the cooktop surface had been off for hours and was cold. YouTubes that I viewed were all misleading on this symptom. They all pointed to the switch, which is the fix for the Burner Light staying on, not the Hot Cooktop Light staying on.
