• Timer will not advance

Replaced above parts, easy to do, looks like a new stove. Needed to pry open knob stem slot segments very slightly to remove broken plastic from previous knobs. Spreading stem slot metal sides too much and they will break. With slots cleaned out, pinch stem sides almost together for new knobs to slide on. My wife put the faceplate on the oven control while I accessed the display by pulling the oven out, unplugged it, and removed the rear cover. Only three nut head screws held the upper back panel. 4 nut screws hold the display onto the oven, they were easily removed. My wife took a couple photos of the rear wiring to ensure we plugged the new oven control in properly (there are a fair number of wires but they are color coded in most cases). I always save original books and assembly sheets for appliances. That helped a lot ! The assembly sheets showed how the ovens went in, how they were attached to the cabinet and what to avoid so I didn’t bend trim piece. I called GE and they sent a tech out. $89 service call. Had I REALLY inspected the oven the hidden element had blown and separated and part of it welded itself to the inside of it's compartment. GE wanted another $350 to come back and fix it. I bought the part here for around $55 and had it running again in about an hour! Read more

Replaced the ignitor glow bar and deflector oven (which had a hole burned through it). Screws stripped upon disassembly of original deflector oven and needed to be replaced as well. Read more

• Little to no heat when baking

The stove was a 40 year old drop in model so we had to turn off the breaker to the oven before getting started. We removed the baking racks then used a small drill bit to remove the old baking element making sure not to allow the wire to slip back into the back of the stove (very important). Installed the new baking element by slipping the wire connector onto the new element. Replaced the screws, restored power, tested the oven and voila it worked. Easy peasy. Read more

Second repair after 10 years of service - igniter had cracked and spill overs were causing the others to misfire. This was a two-step process. I took apart the cooktop to see what parts were neded. Screws were all rusted, I had to drill ome out. The burner gaskets broke during the process and needed replacement. One of the burners had deformed due to excess heat. Removed the front off the back panel, unplugged the old unit. Then using a blow dryer heated the old timer to peel the face /cover off and applied to the new clock. Plugged in the replacement clock. Replaced the front of the range. The only complaint I have is we were not informed that a new face would not be included and the old one would have to be removed and applied to the replacement clock. Easy fix. Pulled out the range and disconnected power cord. Unscrewed two screws in front of unit. Tilted smoothtop open toward rear of stove. Propped a piece of wood to keep it open. Removed burned out Indicator bulb and its plastic housing. Disconnected two wires attached. Installed new bulb and its housing attaching the two wires...housing clicked into hole where old one was removed. Closed top and re-attached two screws... Now works fine. Read more
