Kenmore / Sears Refrigerator Ice Maker & Related

This is the second time of needing repair. I remove the ice bucket, open the crusher, remove the 5 blades. Straighten the blades, reinstall. I then order new blades, The next time it happens I will install the new blades. The reason for the malfunction, (my guess), two ice cubes partially melted stick together and the size and angel the enter crusher cause the problem. Easy to remove the metal parts from the old bin. The only problem was that the screw that holds the adapter has red thread locker and screwdriver rounded off the head of the screw. Drilled the screw and heated the screw to loosen the thread locker and used an ease out to remove the screw. Read more

• Ice maker won't dispense ice

Checked the internet to see what the recommended fix was based upon my model # and the problem I was having. Started off by replacing the water lines and valve, purchased from the same site. Thought I'd cured the problem, but no. Next step was to replace the icemaker, which is incredibly simple. Undo 2 screws, pop out the clips give the wiring harness a good tug and the whole lot comes out. Reverse the process to install the new one. • Ice maker not making ice

GE bottom freezer icemaker stopped working for the 2nd time. Refrigerator bought in 2008, replaced (first time) icemaker in 2009 by GE tech for $450, after 7 years 2nd ice maker failed I decided to attempt replacing the icemaker myself. Purchased a replacement icemaker that comes as a kit. I replaced the water valve and the icemaker unit with in 30 minutes and I had ice the next day. Easy peasy for less than $140. I ordered a complete new bin with everything in it attached already. All I had to do was wash it and set it in the compartment on freezer door. Within a couple hours, I had ice again. Easy fix. Read more

Purchased Appliance Parts Pros replacement ice maker, removed the defective unit, matched the proper wiring harness using the wiring color codes at the P and J side connectors. Approximately 1 hour following the installation, I delightfully heard the first set of cubes ! Read more

Initially I noticed the crusher drum was cracked and broken so I replaced the drum the retaining nut on the end of the auger and the circlip and washer. it worked fine for a time and then the drum began free wheeling. upon further inspection I discovered the retain nubs on the auger had worn down allowing the blade to slip down the auger body. so I replaced the auger, drum, drive blade, and drive cam.
