Kenmore / Sears Touch Pad

I read that the controller and probe controlled the oven temperature. Also read if replacing controller you should replace the overlay. So I ordered all three parts and installed myself with no problem. I took a photo with my phone prior to unplugging wires so I knew the right way to plug the wires into the new controller. Works like new. Only need a nut driver and screwdriver to repair. Job from star to finish approximately 30 minutes. Read more

I replaced the panel, for the third time in about 7 years. its a bit sad that A) kenmore/whirlpool cannot make a control panel that can last longer than 5 years of normal household use, and B) that the panel costs $135 . so that means that the $800 kenmore sits at $1070 in price, due to the two repairs that i have made over the last seven years. this control panel is about 10 or 12 switches, with a 15 pin ribbon cable that connects to the control module. i would rate this as about a $50... I searched online for problems with that model. I found the appliance parts pros web site. It was the control board or the control panel. I ordered the control board. In 2 days it arrived and I put it in. That did not fix the problem. I then ordered the control panel. Again in 2 days it arrived and I installed it. That fixed it. I went online and printed out a return authorization for the control panel. I think the very liberal return policy of appliancepartspros is great! Read more

Initially thinking the thermal fuse was bad, I replaced it without doing my homework. It was actually the control panel. Ordered Wednesday night, in my hands Friday afternoon. We removed six screws, unplugged two sets of wires. With the new control panel we plugged in the two wires, put the cover back on and screwed the six screws back in. Simple, just an extra hand to hold in place is all you need. Read more
