Broken spring on oven door Phil H. • Kirkland , WA • February 07, 2016
The replacement hinge unit arrived in just two days. The JennAire (Maytag) oven door is fairly typical in that it easily lifts off of the hinge bars. Once the door is off then removing two screws is all that's required to remove the hinge unit from the oven. The new hinge slides up into place and while you hold it up inside of its location putting the old screws back in is very easy. After sliding the door back down onto the hinge bars the oven is as good as new

Broken hinge. Jack M. • Tulsa , OK • February 12, 2018
Oven door had been acting up for years (difficult to close). One of the hinges finally broke, so I ordered a replacement. Installation was about as easy as it gets. One trick: FIRST get a paperclip (or small nail or something similar) and put it through the hole in the existing hinge that you are not replacing to keep the hinge from retracting all the way later when the door is removed. If you don't, the hinge could pinch your finger or hand when the door is removed and it snaps closed. At a...

This oven door hinge will work for either the left or right side of an oven door. The hinges on the door are responsible for ensuring that the door can open and close properly. If one or both of the hinges are not working correctly, the door may become difficult to open and close or may not stay on the oven. If this happens, the hinges should be replaced before using the oven.Made of durable metal, the oven door hinges should last a long time. However, they can become damaged and may need to be replaced. If there is too much pressure placed on the door or hinges, it could cause them to break. Owners may want to replace both of the hinges at the same time. Be sure that the oven is off and cooled before replacing this part. The oven door hinges are for use with certain ovens from KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Inglis, and Kenmore. The hinges are genuine OEM replacement parts sourced from the manufacturer. Each hinge is sold individually. Owners that need to replace both hinges should buy two.

One of the hinges on my oven door was broken Bruce B. • Charlton , MA • December 14, 2015
I had to take out the bottom drawer that holds pans. Disconnect the power and pull the oven out. Removed door, rear panel that held the screws for the side panel and lift up and out the side panel. After that it was straight forward as to replacing the hinge. Spent more time cleaning the florr where the oven was than installing the hinge.

The oven door would not close completely William R. • Emporia , KS • July 27, 2016
This oven was a Kenmore model #66595822003. I replaced both spring hinges. This oven was a white oven so it took the MFG# WP8053807 hinge (order two of them). They are the same hinge. No left or right. To get the door off the oven, open the door all the way open, I installed pins (preferably only 1/4" long) in the holes of both hinges. Then remove the spring steel retainers above old hinges in the oven frame. These holds hinges in place. Now close the door until hinge stops on pins. Lift up...

Genuine Whirlpool part

Part Number: WP4455526
This replacement oven door hinge is engineered for stainless-steel door assemblies. It restores smooth opening and a tight seal, helping the oven heat efficiently while keeping the door closed and the light off. What it does:
- Supports the door's weight and controls opening/closing tension
- Draws the door fully closed to compress the gasket and retain heat
- Helps prevent door sagging, slamming, or uneven alignment
- Common failure symptoms: door won't close fully, heat escaping, poor temperature regulation, door won't stay shut, or oven light stays on
What's included:
- One oven door hinge assembly
Install notes:
- Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely before servicing
- Remove the door per your model's instructions; engage hinge locks or insert removal pins if provided
- Support the door and hinge arms—springs are under tension; transfer any reusable hardware
- After installation, verify the door closes evenly and seals against the gasket

The oven door wouldn't close tightly Roger D. • Wayzata , MN • May 09, 2014
I replaced the hinges, which involved removing the door by opening it all the way, inserting a small allen wrench into the locking pin hole on each of the two hinges, partially closing the door and pulling it toward me. I then laid the door stainless steel face up on a table, removed the 8 screws from the edge and pulled the bottom of the face up and toward me. The hinges lie loose in their compartments, so it's easy to pluck them out and drop the new ones in. To retrieve my allen wrenches...

Oven door wouldn't close all the way Richard M. • Durham , NC • March 08, 2015
I replaced the hinges and hinge mounts. Upon inspection of the mounts, it seems that they had become slightly deformed on the lower portion, where the heel of the hinge applies pressure to the frame. Probably didn't need new springs, just the mounts, but I just kept em in anyway. Easy fix, anybody can do it, good instructions in the kit. Very pleased with appliancepartspro speed of delivery.

Part Number: 74001856
This upper oven door hinge is a position-specific hinge that supports and controls a side-swing door's movement, helping it open smoothly and seal firmly. Replacing a worn hinge restores proper alignment, closure, and heat retention.
- Provides the pivot and spring action at the door's upper mounting point
- Maintains door alignment for proper gasket contact and heat seal
- Typical symptoms of a failing hinge: door won't close fully, sags, binds/rubs, or pops open
- A poor seal from a worn hinge can lead to heat loss and uneven baking
What's included: One upper oven door hinge assembly. Install notes:
- Disconnect power and allow the oven to cool completely before service
- Support the door; many models require removing the door to access the hinge
- Install at the factory mounting points and ensure the hinge fully engages the receiver
- After replacement, check door alignment and that the seal contacts evenly
