My problem started with a rusting condition in the ice bin that spiraled out of hand. I took apart the ice bin and all the hardware thinking I could clean it with the suggested baking powder. Replaced the entire ice making unit. It was a very simple project. The original ice maker is held in place by two screws at the front and some tabs in the back. Removing the screws allowed the unit to come free from the tabs and drop down. We simply released the wiring clip, removed the broken unit and reversed the process. The repair took about ten minutes and is something I have never done before. I am guessing we saved over $100 by ordering from AppliancePartsPros.com and doing the job...

This was for a bottom freezer model, which required removing the freezer door to be able to access the icemaker. Once I was able to crawl into the freezer by lying on the floor the actual removal and replacement was relatively easy.
