1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was. 2. Replaced the water inlet valve assembly. That reduced the leakage to a smaller amount but did not fully stop the leakage. Replaced the ice maker assembly and that completed the repair. No leakage issues and ice maker is working with no issues. Read more

Our Kenmore (Whirlpool) refrigerator's ice maker had stopped making ice. I searched YouTube and found a repair videos for this exact problem, finding one with a similar refrigerator and the identical ice maker. I learned that the Water Inlet Valve had likely gone bad and would need to be replaced.
