Refrigerator Parts

Ordered a new evaporator fan, heater coil and fresh food fan. Troubleshooting on youtube, ordered the parts watched the video on how to remove old parts and then how to replace them. Called 3 different repair companies, seems no one will work on this GE French door fridge. I am sure someone with experience could change everything quicker! My refrigerator's cooling fan was making a noise. It wasn't loud; in fact, it was barely discernible. However, it was just loud enough to annoy me. The fan blade was hitting the shroud every now and then, creating a subtle, yet annoying sound. I'd tried tightening all the screws back there, and it helped-for a while. The noise came back. Replaced both inlet valves, no joy. Upon further inspection, found ice maker harness extremely tight at lower freezer door hinge, clamped in place right at a pivot point. Essentially the harness is held in place and rotates with the door. 6 wires broken inside. Splice repair and ice maker now works. Most likely will have to replace harness eventually. Unless there is more slack inside the freezer door this will probably happen again. Very poor design. Read more

Removed trays. Trap broken tracks back to notch in order up lock and remove them. in stalled new replacement tracks but first sand down flat the two circular taps that were no allowing the tracks two get flush with the wall surface. Clean wall surface of any build up spills. rub on a light coat of liquid soap which will help you slide the track in and seats. Read more

First I thought it was the defrost timer (talking to a friend). Replaced as $30+ dollar part and cheaper than a service call. Unfortunately, that did not help. I ordered the French door housing, the new piece has a solid raised curved part that enters the guide, and a new center hinge. I watched both repair videos shown on appliance parts Pro. It looked pretty simple, so I got my 2 screw drivers and unplugged the refrigerator and started. The hardest part was removing the upper and lower hinges. I looked up the parts online at AppliancePros.com! To my surprise, the detailed drawings showed that I could replace the center rail (about $13) instead of the entire lower shelf (about $100)! I also ordered a replacement shelf bin that had broken. I looked at other sites for the parts, but they were cheapest here. I loosened middle hinge by the 2 screws which holds a power cord that clips together, then slid the hinge flap upward to release from the door. My bottom clip hinge was broken away from spring and the only way to attach a new hinge clip was to carefully separate the hinge flap. This can be done by squeezing the flap to see where the separation seams are. Small narrow screwdrivers along with a spatula will do without damaging the plastic.
