• Door won't open after self cleaning cycle

I knew the door latch was suppose to lock for self clean and it wasn't, so I took the back off and after tracing out wires and the linkage to the door latch, determined that it was a faulty motor on the latch lock. I got on line and Appliance Parts Pros was the first place that I found the part. I was surprised that it wasn't real expensive, but I kept looking for a cheaper price only to come back to order it from APP. Replaced the ice maker. The kit came with everything I needed to replace the ice maker. Parts that did not come with the kit were re-used from the old one. My Whirlpool refrig/freezer is an older model so the wiring harness that came with the kit was different from my existing. So instead of disconnecting the ice maker wiring harness from the freezer, I had to disconnect the harness at the ice maker. That was a b..... Ice buildup inside the freezer was caused by warm air beneath the freezer contacting cold air from inside the freezer the resulting condensation freezing and blocking the drain, causing the ice buildup inside. I took the plastic vent piece off the front of the microwave & removed the charcoal filter & put the new one in. Made sure that while I had it open I cleaned all the built up grease out of it before closing it back up. Took the 2 grease filters from underneath the microwave & replaced with the new ones. Put the new hinges on the doors fyi you need to tell what size the screws are for the hinge kits would help a lot Read more

I noticed the floor around the dishwasher was starting to get wet and warp the wooden floor. The chopper had gotten out of line and had cut a pinhole into the sump housing and the dishwasher was leaking badly. It was quite easy to repair. Just unhook the drain hose and the wire connectors, twist off the turbidity sensor and waste motor, pull out the shims and the whole assemple comes up and out. Bought a new upper agitator/filter housing. Just slide it over the bottom agitator housing and put the cap from the old one on the new one. Takes maybe 3 minutes to do. The screen inside the lower part of the housing/filter holds it snug to the bottom housing and does not fly off during the spin cycle. Works great. Read more
