Oven burner would not light broiler burner would light Michael C. • Austin , TX • January 25, 2015
If the oven burner would not light but the broiler would this indicated that the safety valve is OK. Problem had to be with the igniter. Removed the bottom panel in the oven and restarted the oven. The igniter would not glow at all. It should be brilliant red.
This is where the problem came in. I could not find the location of the model on the Kenmore range anywhere you would normally look - the back, the wiring envelope, the oven door jamb etc. Also the igniter cannot be removed from...

My oven would not light Jean B. • Pass Christian , MS • June 22, 2014
My Tappan Range, which I paid a grand total of $65.00 for, and have been using since Katrina, (Katrina in 2005 is how we measure time in South Mississippi.) I live in an old house, and I am old, too. Last winter was the coldest I can remember, and my husband (older than I and far more hard-headed) used the oven like a heater. I read all user's manuals, because I use only used stuff, I can download the manuals or read them online, and it clearly stated in there NOT to use the oven as a...

Replacement of oven ignitor Joe H. • South Abington Township , PA • February 05, 2021
My Kenmore 790.74139310 gas range was taking over 30 minutes to reach 350F. It used to take a little less than 10 minutes. The problem was the ignitor for the lower gas burner. It would glow but not pass sufficient current to increase the gas flow to the lower burner. Once at temperature, there is of course loss of heat when loading the oven with room temperature food. This took too long to recover, so we did not have proper temperature for proper cooking for the first 30 to 40 minutes. Food...

F19 error code on LG natural gas double oven. Brian M. • Baltimore , MD • February 11, 2021
We were getting an intermittent F19 code on our lower oven mainly. This code gets triggered when the oven fails to heat up to a minimum temperature within a specific amount of time. I figured this was being caused by an ignition failure so I bought this new ignitor. As it turns out, if you have a double oven then you will have two ignitors. Just keep that in mind in case you are thinking about replacing both or you are seeing errors in both ovens. The ignitor in the lower oven is located below...

The oven would not heat. No ignition. Maria M. • Kipton , OH • April 11, 2023
It was Holy Thursday and my husband turned on the oven to make our traditional lamb. Being busy in the kitchen with other things, I glanced over at the stove once or twice. Eventually it dawned on me that time had passed but the display still said 150° which is the default. I opened the oven and it was stone cold. We tried unplugging it, turning it off and trying again. It didn't work. My husband hauled out the roaster. For Easter, I bake nutrolls because it makes me feel connected to my...

Baking igniter burned out. Christopher C. • Pittsboro , NC • December 19, 2020
On my Jenn-Air downdraft range, the oven stopped heating. The broiler still worked. So pulled the pan off the bottom so I could see and found the igniter wasn't glowing to start the gas. I had replaced the full electronic control panel using Appliance Parts Pros so knew they had the full breakdown of parts for my model. I found the igniter and ordered. But frankly, I wasn't sure about doing the repair myself. It looked easy enough from videos and discussions here. Still, dealing with the...

The oven wasn't lighting up gas Michael K. • Eastlake , OH • April 11, 2025
I replaced the Oven Igniter. After ensuring that it was the igniter, by turning on the stove and taking out the oven bottom. Watch if it turns red. If not, then either the wiring is faulty, or the igniter went bad. The bulb was due to a loose and broken light bulb, can't use any normal bulb, these ones are specially made to withstand the heat. And the oven bottom was warped due repeatedly heating up and cooling down over the years. It took a fair bit of time to get the new one in, since it was...

The igniter in my whirlpool gas range needed replacement Thomas B. • Cobleskill , NY • November 24, 2014
There are hex screws keeping the igniter in place. I think they were 5/16...so you have to have a socket wrench. The space is kind of tight, and it's all on the right side, so if you're left handed (like I am) it's going to be a challenge to get the hex screws out without dropping them. Dropping them isn't too bad if they don't fall into the hole the gas pipe is coming through. Unfortunately one of them fell in there, and there's no getting it out of there. I had a machine screw that fit, so I...

Igniter in my ge oven lasts about 1 year Robert W. • Washington , DC • October 24, 2014
After 5 igniter replacements, I've gotten pretty good at this. Less than 30 minutes start to finish -- including mopping under the range, etc. You need one hex driver for the whole job -- 3/8" I believe.
1. Remove all of the racks and the oven door. Remove the bottom panel inside the oven. Now unscrew the flame cover (4 hex screws), remove, and unscrew the old igniter (2 hex screws).
2. Pull the oven away from the wall. Be careful not to kink the gas line. Unplug the range. Remove...
