Weak spark on right side burners causing them to not light Joseph Z. • Country Club Hills , IL • October 24, 2016
This is a Montgomery Ward gas range made by Tappan. Parts are no longer offered for this appliance. So, I had to eyeball various ignitors to determine which one would work. I settled on the least expensive one and ordered two (Just in case there were "issues"). The parts arrived quickly but were not a simple drop-in replacement. The new ones were longer and smaller in diameter. I had to use the original bracket because it provided the electrical ground for the spark. I used a spring to...

The Ignitor is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire gas ranges. Located near the burner heads, this component is responsible for generating the electric spark required to light stove top burners.
Symptoms of a faulty ignitor include:
- Burners that will not light or only light intermittently
- Clicking noises but no flame ignition
- Diminished or no spark from the ignitor itself
Causes of ignitor failure can be an accumulation of deposits over many heating cycles. Physical damage from pots/pans is also possible. As electrical parts, ignitors have a limited lifespan depending on range usage.
This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Gas oven inginiter needed replacing Keith P. • Cambridge , VT • January 20, 2017
Removed the bottom tin work in the oven and removed the burner tube. Tried to remove the igniter bracket but the screws were too tight for the Phillips head and couldn't get vice grips to clamp on the head, so I bent the bracket enough to remove and replace the igniter. Then reassembled.
I give AppliancePros.com a 5 star rating. Site was easy to use, the part was delivered in under 2 days, and it was the correct part packaged carefully so the igniter was protected from breaking.

Replaced ingniter. Unlike some of the repair videos I saw, I could do everything by removing the lower draw, and in fact access from the back of the stove was not an option on my Amana. Pulling the stove out and fussing around turned a likely ten minute job in to a twenty minute. Unit work great, now I just need to keep tabs on the broiler igniter, which may be on the way out as well.
