Amana Gasket & Seal

Did some online research and everything pointed to the fact that moisture was getting into the freezer and therefore the seal was not doing it's job. I ran my finger along the seal and sure enough I detected cold air coming out of one corner of the seal. I ordered the appropriate part from Appliance Parts Pros (APP) but decided to test my diagnosis by installing thin weather stripping in the affected area. • Leaking

I thought it was the gasket so I ordered a new one. While waiting for it to arrive I read some other forums where I read that sometimes the air vent on the front could be dirty and cause leaking. I popped out that vent cover and it was clogged. Using an old toothbrush and a tiny paint brush I cleaned all of the gunk out. No more leak even with the old gasket in place. I'll save the new gasket for when I need it in the future. Read more

I determined that the gasket was pinched, leaking at corner. Ordered new gasket from this site (easy find with part diagram). Removed old gasket, replaced with new. Read more

We watched a "youtube" video on how to fix a fridge door seal and even though this particular model fridge was not the same...it helped to see how to fix it. It took me 20 minutes to remove and replace the new door seal. The part ordered was ordered and delivered next day which was great!! Read more

I searched online for replacement parts and Appliance Parts Pros had the part in stock. Before I ordered the part, I watched the video to see if I could handle the repair. I ordered the part and soaked the gaskets with warm water in the tub. The old gaskets had a much simpler setup, so no cutting was involved. We first emptied out the freezer to another freezer, turned off the refrigerator, and let it defrost. We ordered a freezer door gasket from Appliance Parts and it arrived within a few days. Our 19 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating. After checking the thermal fuse, I found the ignitor electrically open. I bought an ignitor at a local store as there was a national holiday the next day and I did not want the dryer inoperative waiting several days for shipping.
