Cooktop Transformer

Best Seller
Transformer
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB27X21609

The Transformer is an OEM part for GE gas cooktops. This component is responsible for converting electrical power to the necessary voltage required for the cooktop's ignition system to function correctly.

Replace this transformer if it fails to supply the proper voltage, leading to ignition issues. Common causes of a bad transformer include electrical surges, overheating, or normal wear and tear over time.

Symptoms of a bad Gas Cooktop Transformer include:

  • Burners not igniting or taking longer to ignite
  • Clicking sound without ignition
  • No power to the ignition system
  • Flickering or inconsistent burner flames

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No spark or red led gas cooktop working with a lighter.   Devang R. • San Ramon , CA • June 23, 2022

The ordeal began after wiping around burner knobs with a moist paper towel with cleaner and wrapping the towel around the burner knob shaft to clean around it. The cooktop stopped sparking on all the 5 burners and no red LED light. There was gas flow and I could light the burner using a lighter. I looked up and found a couple of good youtube videos on troubleshooting and also came upon the AppliancePartsPros.com site. I opened the cooktop (youtube video helped) after turning off the gas supply... Read more

Transformer (20Va, Light)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP9760588

This light transformer (20VA) steps down incoming voltage for the appliance's light circuit. Replace a failing transformer to restore dependable illumination so you can monitor cooking progress and see clearly when cleaning.

  • Steps down line voltage to the lower voltage used by the light circuit
  • Supports consistent, reliable interior lighting
  • A failed transformer can leave the light inoperative even with a good bulb
  • Intermittent operation or flickering can indicate a weakening transformer
What's included: 1 transformer Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug the unit before servicing
  • Access and mounting location vary by model; note wiring and orientation before removal
  • Move wires one at a time to the matching terminals/leads on the new transformer
  • Secure the transformer and route wiring away from hot or moving parts; test light operation before reassembly

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Double oven would not work correctly/runaway high temp cycle (control board problem) also oven lights would not come on.   David S. • Hartwell , GA • June 19, 2023

Studied schematics and watched many on-line videos. Did some electrical checks with VOM (Volt/Ohm Meter). Determined that control panel thermal fuse attached to back of control panel had opened due to high temp. Determined that the upper oven thermal fuse on back of oven had opened due to high temp. Determined that transformer that supplies power to lights was bad (open primary). Removed control panel circuit board and had it repaired/verified good. Faulty control panel was the reason that oven... Read more

Transformer
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB27K10298

This replacement transformer converts household line voltage to the correct level for the appliance's control circuits. It restores stable power to the display and relays so the unit can start and run consistently.

  • Converts incoming AC power to the proper voltage for electronic controls and relays
  • Failure can leave the display blank and controls unresponsive even though power is supplied
  • Intermittent resets or loss of functions can indicate a weakening transformer
  • Replace if windings test open/shorted or the part shows overheating damage
What's included: One transformer Installation notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing; this part connects to line voltage
  • Photograph and label wires; transfer connections one at a time to the new part
  • Mount securely and route wiring away from sharp edges and hot components

Transformer (Low-Voltage Control)
Genuine Bosch part
By: Bosch
Part Number: 00440252

This transformer provides the low-voltage power supply required by the appliance control system, enabling proper operation of the control board and related low-voltage circuits. Replaces a failed or noisy transformer to restore reliable control power. What it does:

  • Steps down mains voltage to the appliance's low-voltage control circuit for the control board and relays
  • Helps restore control functions when a failed transformer causes no power, intermittent control operation, or unresponsive electronics
  • Prevents control-board brownouts by providing consistent low-voltage feed (when the transformer itself is the issue)
  • Used wherever a dedicated appliance control transformer is required by the appliance's electrical system
What's included:
  • One replacement transformer
Install notes:
  • Always disconnect power to the appliance before accessing electrical components
  • Verify wiring locations and terminal IDs before removing the old transformer; label wires if needed
  • Transfer mounting hardware and brackets from the old part unless new hardware is explicitly included

High-Voltage Transformer (Microwave)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB27X10905

This high-voltage transformer steps line voltage up to power the magnetron, producing microwave energy. Replacing a failed transformer can restore heating when the oven runs but doesn't heat or hums without cooking.

  • Supplies the high voltage the magnetron needs to generate microwave energy
  • Failure may present as the microwave running but not heating
  • May cause a loud hum or buzz with no heat
  • Can blow an internal fuse or trip a breaker immediately after pressing Start
What's included: 1 high-voltage transformer.
  • Disconnect power before service; the high-voltage capacitor can retain a dangerous charge even when unplugged
  • Support the heavy transformer during removal/installation and reuse original mounting hardware and wire positions
  • After installation, verify secure connections in the high-voltage circuit (capacitor and diode) before testing

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No spark at any burner   Juan Carlos E. • Charlotte , NC • January 26, 2019

I checked the transformer and did not get outlet voltage. The big problem was to release the cooktop cover. The central jet holder broke and was almost impossible to release the cover. In the process was necessary to damage the main tube, the long range nut with chamfer, and the nut. After that I ordered all the pieces to IPS parts because there were 30% cheaper than partspro. IPS people keep saying to me after a lot of arguments that the order will be delivered the next week. After one and a... Read more
