Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You High temperature thermostat went bad after running self clean function   John V. • Longmont , CO • September 09, 2014

Did some Google searches and most comments concerning this issue on LG stoves indicated the high temperature thermostat malfunctions when using the self cleaning function. This malfunction causes complete loss of power for the entire stove and locks the oven door. Since I wasn't completely sure if it was the thermostat or where it was for that matter, I called a service tech to troubleshoot the stove. He was able to determine it was the thermostat and further tested his findings by... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The GE Advantium Oven completely shut down. No lights, no sign of life at all.   Denny E. • Waynesboro , VA • March 14, 2014

I read on line about other such ovens doing the same thing mine was doing, absolutely nothing! I even read stories of a major retailer telling customers to throw the microwave away. There's nothing you can do to fix it. After replacing a simple fuse that I ordered from you, the Advantium is as good as new. It took a grand total of 5 minutes to make the repair. The shipping cost more than the part, but it was all very worthwhile. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Kitchen aid oven stopped working after a self cleaning   Angela M. • Ellicott City , MD • November 22, 2020

First, don't self clean your oven before the holidays. In fact, read up on what damage the self cleaning feature can do to your oven. How did I fix it, I went on line and saw the comments of appliancepartspros.com. I figured out that it was the thermal fuse that probably went wrong since my oven just went lights out after the cleaning. My oven is a Kitchenaid model # KEBS179BSSOO. The part for this model is AP6022801 or WPW10545255. I spoke with technical support but I still had questions. I... Read more

Microwave Fuse
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire

Microwave won't start or is completely dead? This fuse protects against electrical overload. Requires disassembly to access. Often replace with switches.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The frigidaire microwave would blow fuses on a regular basis   Loren A. • Windsor , WI • November 28, 2020

After doing some research the problem appeared to be the door safety switches. I ordered 3 new ones to replace all the original ones. Some minor disassembly of the microwave front was required to reach the fuse and switches. To reach the switches the control panel wires needed to be unplugged and the panel removed. After doing that replacing the switches was pretty strait forward. As of this comment the microwave has worked for 5 days without blowing the fuse so far. This has probably fixed the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You GE profile in wall oven gave F 9 code and would shut off after 30 minutes   Matthew M. • Fairfield , CA • July 23, 2018

The F9 error code is supposed to indicate that the door lock mechanism has failed. My oven would give the F9 code and turn off during normal baking at 400 F after about 30-40 minutes. It turns out that GE must have programmed the error codes incorrectly in my model, because the real problem was that my control board cooling fan was no longer functional, and one of the two thermal switches was shutting off the unit when the control board area got too hot. Oven Thermal Fuse
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPW10545291

Oven won't turn on after self-clean cycle? A blown thermal fuse is the likely cause. This safety part cuts power when overheated. Moderate DIY repair.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Open thermal fuse on whirlpool wall double oven   Lon F. • Jacksonville , FL • May 23, 2015

Replaced fuse. It took much longer to get the oven out of the wall to access the fuse and replace the front panel than to do the repair. This fuse failed at the end of the cleaning cycle for the bottom oven and left the door locked because the open fuse removed the 120v power from the control board. The locked door made it impossible to remove one of the screws holding the wall oven in place. However, after I ground off the head of the screw behind the edge of the locked door I was able to... Like a boss! Seriously, removed oven from wall (2 screws), removed about 15 sheet metal screws from front and top covers, unplugged wire harnesses one (or a few) at a time. Reassembled. Hint. Take a picture of wiring before removing and mark old parts (especially thermal fuse) with sharpie before removing so you don't get confused. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave had no power and no lights   Matthew H. • Rocky Hill , CT • October 25, 2016

I have a Jenn-Air microwave that didn't turn on and had no lights. It just stopped working completely. I unplugged the unit and had to remove the rear cover using a *security screw kit* that prevents people from opening the rear panel. Once opened, I removed the fuse and testing it with an OHM reader to determine that the fuse went bad. But I also had to determine why the fuse blew and noticed a sticky oily substance under the Capacitor. I used a rubber glove and needle nose pliers to... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Kitchenaid gas range stopped during self clean cycle control panel went dark and oven door remained locked   George F. • Newton , NJ • March 06, 2016

Based on information found at AppliancePartsPros, I determined that the it was most likely the thermostat (thermal fuse). I removed the rear panel and tested the fuse for continuity and it was bad. I used a jumper wire to bypass the fuse and plugged the range back in. The panel turned on and the oven unlocked. I then removed the thermostat and looked up the replacement part and ordered.
